miHoYo, together with Shanghai Xuhui police, busted a criminal ring illegally renting and selling game accounts, involving over 2 million yuan. Ten suspects were arrested. The gang batch-registered accounts using illegally obtained personal information and sold them to minors.

The case reveals the full gray-market chain: stolen personal data, batch registration, and resale. Buying accounts of unknown origin offers no protection and may fuel personal-data crimes.
